MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 19, 2008 BOARD MEETING
SHERRARD PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT
Board members in attendance-, Pete Guyton, Mike Hutchins, Wayne McCombs, Sylvia Swegle, and Clint Ziemer
Guest- Ron Schnowske,
Staff-no staff members were present.
Meeting called to order by President McCombs at order at 7 p.m.
MOTIONS:
1. Motion by Hutchins to approve the agenda. Second by Ziemer. Approved.
2. Motion by Guyton to approve the minutes of the January 15, 2008 Board Meeting minutes. Second by Swegle. Approved.
3. Motion by Guyton to approve Treasurer's Report for January, 2009. Second by Swegle. Approved.
4. Motion by Hutchins to renew a CD that is coming due at IHMVCU that is coming due soon. Second by Guyton. Approved.
5. Motion by Guyton to go into closed session at 8:15 p.m.to discuss personnel. Second by Swegle. Approved.
6. Motion by Ziemer to return to regular session at 9:10p.m. Second by Guyton. Approved.
7. Meeting adjourned at 9:20 p.m.
DISCUSSION:
Director's Report-In her absence, Evans’ Director’s Report was presented in written form. A copy is attached.
Steering Committee report- In the absence of Larry Stone, Mr. McCombs reported that some insulation materials were returned to Menards and a refund was received. Two toilets were also returned, but the refund has not yet been received. The broken pipes in the basement have been repaired and a hanging heater has been installed to keep them from freezing again. Handicapped-accessible toilets for the restrooms are on order.
Mc Combs reported that Matherville will be celebrating its Centennial August 5 and 6, 2008. The trustees discussed what the Library’s role should be at the Centennial. Guyton agreed to represent the Library at an upcoming meeting and report at the next board meeting.
McCombs reported that he and Ziemer attended the Building Rural Libraries seminar at ALS. Data access for businesses and community residents and economic development in rural communities were also discussed at the all-day session at the ALS headquarters in East Peoria.
The Board went into closed session at 8:15 p.m. and came out of closed session at 9:10 p.m.
The next meeting of the Board of Trustees will be at 7 p.m. March 18, 2008 at the Library.
