MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 18, 2007 BOARD MEETING

SHERRARD PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT


Board members in attendance-, Pete Guyton, , Wayne McCombs, Sylvia Swegle, and Clint Ziemer


Guests- Ron Schnowske, Ann Collier, and Larry Stone, Chairman of Steering Committee,


Staff-no staff members were present


Meeting called to by President McCombs at order at 7:05 p.m.


MOTIONS:


1. Motion by Ziemer to approve the agenda. Second by Guyton. Approved.


2. Motion by Guyton to approve the minutes of the 13 November 2007 Board Meeting minutes. Second by Ziemer. Approved.


3. Motion by Swegle to approve Treasurer's Report for October, 2007. Second by Guyton. Approved.


4. Motion by Ziemer to appoint McCombs to represent the Library at the Board of Review hearing on January 3, 2008. Second by Guyton. Approved.


5. Motion by Ziemer to go into closed session at 8:20 p.m.to discuss personnel. Second by Swegle. Approved.


6. Motion by Ziemer to return to regular session at 8:53 p.m. Second by Swegle. Approved. Approved.


7. Motion to adjourn by Ziemer at 9:25 p.m. Approved. Meeting adjourned.


DISCUSSION:


Director's Report-In her absence, Evans’ Director’s Report was presented in written form. A copy is attached.


Steering Committee report- Larry Stone reported that locks were installed on the doors to the Library’s restrooms. He presented bids for the replacement of the Library’s furnace. No bids were accepted. Mr. Stone mentioned that no marquees in the Library’s price range were available at the meeting he attended in November. He will continue to search for a marquee with a LED display. Bricks have been purchased to close up the below ground level windows, but the bricklayer has not yet been contacted. Mr. Stone recommended that scrap material be removed from the library by an independent contractor.

Ziemer reported that the audit report letter was favorable.


The Board went into closed session at 8:20 p.m. and came out of closed session at 8:53 p.m.


The next meeting of the Board of Trustees will be at 7 p.m. January 15, 2008 at the Library.
