Parking Meter Contest
The parking meter is almost full. When the
meter is completely stuffed, we will begin a
contest to guess how much money it contains.
Every patron is entitled to one guess. KD's
Pizzeria & Grille is generously donating one
large pizza to the person whose guess is
closest to the actual dollar amount. The
contest will begin when not one more coin or
bill will fit into the parking meter. Let's work
hard to reach our goal and get this meter
filled.

Pet Peeve
By Piers Anthony
Piers Anthony's newest installment of his Xanth series can be found at the Sherrard
Public Library. The book Pet Peeve is a fun mix of puns, a quest and a robot invasion.
Anthony's 29
th
book takes the reader back to Xanth the land where magic works and
we get to ride along. I must caution you. If you don't like puns this is not the book for
you. Anthony loads the story with all kinds of puns that made me laugh and groan,
but I enjoyed every minute of it! The story begins with Goody Goblin. He is a terrible
goblin, because he is nice. Goody visits the Good Magician Humfrey and becomes
involved in a quest to help find a foul mouthed bird named the Pet Peeve a good
home. He is joined by Hannah Barbarian (ha ha) to protect him on his quest. They
go all over
Xanth in their quest and unintentionally cause a robot invasion. This
book can be read without reading the other 28 books, but you may want to
check out the time line on his web site www.hipiers.com to get a general
outline of all the characters you will meet. Happy reading!

Audio Books on iPods
The Sherrard Public Library is pleased
to announce a new service - audio
books on iPods. The Library has
purchased several iPod shuffles -
small audio players, about the size of a
package of chewing gum. We will be offering
an initial selection of audio books downloaded
from Apple's iTunes Music Service. As with
other audio books, we ask that iPods be
returned after the normal three week checkout
period to the circulation desk rather than the
after hours drop box. Starting June 2006
check out this truly cutting edge service at the
Sherrard Public Library.
Buy & Sell on at the Library
Learn how to buy on Ebay - and not get taken.
Larry Sandhaas will cover the introductory basics
of buying "stuff" on the auction website. Topics
covered will include: Paypal, buyer and seller
feedback, reserve vs. no reserve vs. "Buy It Now"
auctions, sniping, what to buy and what not to
buy. "Buying on Ebay" will be held at 7pm on
Thursday, April 13.
After you learn how to buy, learn how to sell on
Ebay. Larry Sandhaas will explain the rules and
unwritten rules of selling your treasures. Just to
make it interesting, we will follow a live auction
of one of the Library's surplus computers on
Ebay. Learn about posting digital photos, price
research, comparable merchandise, what sells
and what doesn't, package and shipping. "Sell-
ing on Ebay" will be held at 7pm on Thursday,
May 11.
