Learn to Watercolor
Landscapes
Beginning April 19th and continuing for
four weeks your instructor will teach
techniques using watercolors and tools
to create your own masterpieces. Plan to
come for one or all four classes. Call your
Library for details and to register for this
exciting program. Cost and exact times are

Container Planting at Corn Crib
Dwayne and Kenny White, owners, have
invited us again this spring to the Corn
Crib where we will select materials from
their greenhouse to plant in our own pots.
At the end of the evening everyone will
have an instant array of color to proudly
display on our porch or patio. We will all
meet at the Corn Crib at 6:30pm on May
23rd for this event. Bring your own con-
tainers and planting tools. The only cost
will be the materials you purchase from
the Corn Crib.
Parenting Power
I am a mother of two young boys. My old-
est is four and just went in for his preschool
screening. When the teacher came to take
my son back to the room for the screening,
he wouldn't go. He started crying, clutch-
ing my shirt like it was a life line. I asked
one of the assistants later in the screening if
other mothers went through the same thing
I did. Her reply to me was that I had been
the only one. My initial reaction is `some-
thing is different about my child, why can't
he be like the other kids?'
If you are a parent like me who would like
to talk to other parents about your own ex-
periences and concerns with your child in a
casual atmosphere, please join me, Chelsey,
Thursday, April 19th around 6pm. The first
initial meeting will be here at the Sherrard
Library, but if you would like to meet at
other places we can work that out. Feel
free to bring your kids. Call the Library at
593-2178 to sign up.
Stop in and check out all of the items we
were able to add to our collection through
this grant. There are books, DVD's, and
audio books on a wide range of subjects:
traveling, family vacations, financial ad-
vice, areas of play and sports, cooking with
kids, raising children from birth through
teen years, craft projects for the family, and
exercise.
Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illi-
nois State Library (ISL), a division of the Office
of Secretary of State, using funds provided by
the Institute of Museum and Library Services
(IMLS), under the federal Library Services and
Technology Act (LSTA).
Digitize Your World
Do you have a pile of old bills that need
to be filed, or a tall stack of magazines
that you need to go through? Kirby
McLaughlin will take us through the steps
of scanning items into your computer and
then burning them on to a CD. This class
has endless organizational possibilities:
pictures, bills, tax forms, recipe cards,
newspaper articles, and projects from
magazines. No more piles of clutter. Take
this simple but informative class, Monday,
May 14, at 6:30. Class size is limited to 5
people. Please call the Library to sign up.
From your parents you learn love and
laughter and how to put one foot before
the other. But when books are opened
you discover that you have wings.
