Meet Clint Ziemer
Clint is frequently seen in the library. He
serves the library as a board member,
treasurer and volunteer webmaster. He has
served the community since the fall of 1998
as Pastor of Cable Community Church,
rural Sherrard.
Clint's roots run deep in the Sherrard area.
His Great-grandparents and Grandparents
lived in Matherville and are buried in
Farlow Grove Cemetery. His father, Dave,
graduated from Sherrard High School.
"This community means so much to me,"
Clint says, "I wanted to find some way to
invest back into it, so I felt I could serve
best by helping out the library."
Besides reading, Clint's hobbies include
web page design, history and genealogy.
"I'm very excited that our new library will
have a Local History room," Clint noted.
If you have historic photos of this area or
stories of its history, please send them to
Clint at the library.

The Touch
By Colleen McCullough
To read a book that takes
me away to another time,
place and attitude, has
always been my goal. The
Touch by Colleen Mc-
Cullough does all of these
and more.
If you are familiar with The Thorn Birds,
then this, the 16th novel by Ms. Mc-
Cullough, takes you again to Australia dur-
ing their gold rush of the 1860's.
Having struck it rich, Alexander Kinross
sends money back to his native Scotland for
a bride. Despite the fact that he already has
a mistress, his goal is to have a respectable
wife and be socially accepted by Australian
society. His 16 year old cousin Elizabeth
Drummond is sent over. This very naive
and sheltered young girl is unprepared for
the changes the next few years will bring.
Exploring religion, love, money, nature and
man's desire to control all of these things
takes a great toll on Elizabeth as she herself
falls in love with a half-caste young man.
This saga of new South Wales will both
surprise and amaze you. There's plenty of
passion and romance throughout this tale of
one family's survival in an ever-changing
world.

What My Library Means to Me
By Iona Schnowske
A Lot!! Friends, classes, travel, stress re-
liever, email, and another way to volunteer
to the kids and adults in my community.
I am proud to be have good friends and be
on the Friends of the Library Board with
them. Other women who care about your
kids and mine. We are proud to give back
to our community. We sponsor the Easter
Egg Hunt, the Ice Cream Social, the Hal-
loween Party, Christmas Tree Decorating
Contest.
I am excited about the summer reading pro-
gram this year. There will be story hours,
crafts, movies and an awards party. I know
the kids are going to love it.
We also have various classes offered to all.
This year I made a napkin basket, a quilted
bag, a quilted wall hanging, a crocheted
hand towel and I went to a fancy tea party.
Time conflicts prevented me from taking
the knitting, painting, computer, finance,
genealogy and scrapbooking classes.
Maybe next time.
I'll probably never be able to travel abroad,
but I can go anywhere I want to in books.
I love reading! When I am stressed out I
grab a book. If I start reading a book that is
part of a series and the library doesn't have
the complete set, we get on the computer
and use Interlibrary Loan system to order
what is missing.
I had to take an online test for the fire de-
partment. I did not have an email address
so I went up to the library and Chelsey
helped me to get one. By the way, I passed
the test! I email my oldest daughter Rhon-
da in Wisconsin. I still have trouble with
the computer, but I just yell help and one of
the library workers come to my aid.
If you have questions, ask the library. If
they don't know the answer, they will try to
help find it for you.
I am proud of my library! We have books
on tape for those who can no longer see to
read or can no longer hold a book. We also
have some large print books.
As you can see my library really means a
lot to me. Please help us to be able to better
serve your needs. After all it is my great
escape.
