Like Watching Grass Grow...
Construction Partners Incorpo-
rated has now completed their
work on the demolition of the old
Sherrard High School, and, as
you have probably noticed, the
grass is now growing where the
building once was. This is be-
cause of the hard work of Larry
Stone and Wayne McCombs, they
grated the soil and planted the
grass seed, and now, because of
them, our world is a little greener.
Wreath Making
On August 27th at six o'clock p.m.
Cookie Dean and Theresa Johnson
of Sweet Annie's Floral, will share
techniques of successful wreath
making, and, with any luck, by the
end of the evening everyone will
have a lovely treasure to proudly
display. Call the library (309-593-
2318) to register. Space is limited.
Your only cost will be materials,
which range in price from twenty
dollars to twenty-five dollars.
Wall Hanging
Join us in Reynolds at J's Home-
town Quilting on Sunday Septem-
ber 16th from one to three o'clock
p.m. to create your own Garden
Gate wall hanging. The project's fo-
cus is a garden gate fall pumpkins
and leaves appliqueed throughout.
The class is great for beginners
as well as advanced quilters who
want to make a gift or need some-
thing new to hang at home. The
cost is ten dollars, plus materials.

Bus Contract
Do you know Brush Hill Cemetery? Could you
find it on your own? Our guided tour wound us
around Sherrard and brought to life much of
the history of our Richland Grove community
at every cemetery stop. You could almost
sense the life of the person being portrayed
as each actor stood at the gravesite and
shared highlights of long ago. Brush Hill was
created in the early 1800's and is still active.
The Quaker Cemetery is the smallest public
cemetery. Cable Cemetery is the resting
place of the only Richland Grove Vietnam War
casualty. Swedona Cemetery shares the name
of the oldest Lutheran congregation in Mercer
County. The Sherrard Cemetery is sometimes
known as the Waugh Cemetery, known after the
family who donated the land to the Township.
These are a few facts shared that day, and
there is much, much more to learn. Plan to join
us next year when we will, again, stroll through
Sherrard history. Your Library has heard from
several who wished to attend but scheduling
conflicts prevented. We are looking ahead
to another capacity bus trip next June.
Blood Drive
The American Red Cross will host
