Eragon
By Christopher Paolini
Not many books can adequately fill the gaps between Harry Potter books or provide a
good fantasy story after The Lord of the Rings. Paolini's Inheritance Trilogy, begun
when he was only 15, may be some of those rare books.
The first of the trilogy, Eragon, begins the tale of the young farm boy, Eragon, who
one day finds a blue stone which soon hatches into a blue dragon. Becoming one of
the last of the dragon riders, he is forced from his home when it is destroyed and
quickly becomes hunted by the forces of Galbatorix, the evil ruler who was himself the
downfall of the dragon riders. The story follows Eragon as he tries to remain hidden
from his enemies while making his way to the hidden Varden, the group of dwarves,
humans, and elves who allied themselves against Galbatorix.
The book itself has gotten a lot of praise from reviewers including the New York Times
and Publishers Weekly. I became enthralled with the story and characters and was
looking forward to the release of Eldest, the second in the series, in the same way that
I look forward to the release of a new Harry Potter book. Both Eragon and Eldest can
be found at the library and are highly recommended

Meet Margo Klundt
You've probably seen her behind the circulation desk.
Margo is our teddy bear lovin' cataloger, who joined
our library family in September, 2001. Margo says
she finds her job very rewarding, thanks to the friendly
staff and patrons. Playing her steel guitars, writing,
collecting, cake decorating, traveling, photography
and party planning are among her many hobbies.
She has written a series of children's books and is
currently awaiting word from a publisher. Margo is a member of the Society of
Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and the Midwest Writing Center. Her
favorite places to visit are Hawaii and the South Pacific. As a member of the teddy
bear collector's club, Theodore Society, she has acquired over 800 teddy bear
related items which she plans to place in a teddy bear museum she is planning.
