Director of the Library accepted the
award at the ALS Annual Meeting Awards
night in September . The ALS awarded
this honor to the Sherrard Library for
being a small rural library and being able to provide such technology as
wireless internet, iPods, two large televisions and two gaming systems.
The Sherrard Library received a $500 check along with the award which
was graciously supported by Pearl Technologies.
2007 New Year's Resolution
Come to Yoga class at the Library! Since classes began
in April of 2006, we have grown from one class per week
to fi ve for a total of 100 plus Yoga sessions! More than
35 women and men have attended and discovered that
Yoga is fun, relaxing and benefi cial. It is a sensible
program that improves fl exibility, concentration, strength and stamina.
It is appropriate for men and women, young and old alike. Classes are
thoughtfully planned to meet the needs of all attendees. Your teacher,
Roxanne Dierolf, is a certifi ed instructor who will gently guide you
toward your own personal goals. For more information or to register,
please contact her at 309-236-8618.
New Faces
The Sherrard Library has two new faces behind the circulation desk.
Austin Stone is a senior at Sherrard High School.
Austin is a big movie buff. Besides just watching
movies, Austin writes his own screen plays and en-
joys making short fi lms. Austin is also into reading,
music and acting.
Garrett Vaughn is a freshman at Sherrard High
School. Garrett's favorite hobbies are gaming,
particularly Halo 2, chess, reading and computers.
Not by the Cover
The winter months are the perfect time to rest up after your holiday
rush, curling by the fi re with enjoyable books. May I recommend a
popular author, Janet Evanovich, who has been seen lately on all the
network celebrity shows. She brings her main character to life by
providing the wacky antics of "fugitive apprehension" agent, Stephanie
Plum for hilarious events. Each book in the series of twelve mysteries
takes the reader to cities in New Jersey, along the Eastern seaboard
and even into southern Florida. You will be laughing throughout Steph-
anie's seemingly endless escapades. Together with her employer, Vin-
nie; co-workers, Lulu, Connie and Ranger; long time beau, Joe Morelli;
her family, including Grandma Mazur who takes center stage particularly
during neighborhood wakes; and the loathsome characters she encoun-
ters along the way, provide powerful suspense and adventure.
Janet's One for the Money, fi rst in the series, was published in 1994.
Twelve Sharp is new this year. The number identifi es the series. Your
Sherrard Library has the entire collection.
I have read the series and guarantee you will laugh your way through
any cabin fever days ahead. Stop by my offi ce. It would be fun to
revisit the stories with you. Grand New Year Wishes to Everyone and
Happy Reading!!
