The Sherrard Public Library District is seeking an outgoing and adaptable individual who enjoys working with the public! Must have exceptional customer service, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide front desk service and care of library materials with professionalism, helpfulness, and organization.
  • Perform circulation functions using integrated library software, and reader's advisory services.
  • Promote Library activities and services during customer interactions.
  • Shelves library materials accurately according to library classification systems.
  • Engages in care of library collection, including processing, mending, and cleaning materials.
  • Reviews materials for accuracy and condition, and maintains organization and neat appearance of library.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of customer service principles
  • Ability to interact with customers with professionalism, patience, and attention to detail
  • Ability to perform responsibilities with positivity, critical thinking, and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationship with library management, co-workers, and public
  • Ability to adapt to new library policies, procedures, activities, and goals
  • Ability to sort materials by library classification systems


  • High school or equivalent
